Poem in the Scots after
Hugh MacDiarmid

It wis a gliaket, crabbet, muckle day,
Sleekit and grim,
And the geggie o’ Hamish wis weel dount and hingin’
As he masticated his grabbet deep-fried pizza
Like a drool-gegged loon that wis unco bleaket
And weel ribbet, ribbet.

Hamish cajoled Tae A Mountain Haggis,
And the Wee Sleeket Edelweiss,
Singin’ that yin like a muckle chuchter
Wi’ his arse in a bandy vice,
Och aye, siar sleeket,
And coorin’ and timorous,
Right enough.
