A Sad Song about a Parrot

Jasper the parrot sat on his perch,
Abandoned at the alter, left in the lurch,
Gave his heart to a flighty mynah bird,
Said she’d marry him, gave her word.

But then she met a rooster in the barn,
Told her the story, told her the yarn,
She went to Jasper, said, Sorry, my Jock,
I really like you but I’m going for the cock.
